Complete or full dentures replace all your natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaws. These Suit patients who have lost all their natural teeth.
Partial dentures fill in the spaces left by lost or missing natural teeth, this type of denture is attached to some of the natural teeth in the mouth to give it retention. These suit patients who have lost at least one tooth to those who have lost several natural teeth. We offer a few different options depending on the patient’s preferences.
Acrylic Partial Dentures
This type of partial dentures consists of denture teeth embedded in a plastic base plate, with metal wires which clasp onto natural teeth to give the denture retention in the mouth. This is commonly the most inexpensive option when it comes to partial dentures.
Chrome Cobalt Partial Dentures
Chrome cobalt dentures are dentures made from cast cobalt chrome framework/base. They are made of a type of alloy which consists of cobalt, chrome, chromium (which is added to prevent corrosion). The denture teeth are attached to the metal framework by a minimal amount of plastic. As these dentures are made of a metal framework, they cover less surface area of the patient’s palate and can be made thinner, while still maintaining its strength. It is more comfortable to wear as it is lighter in weight, thinner in width and stronger than the traditional acrylic denture.
Flexible Partial Dentures
Flexible partial dentures are made completely acrylic, but unlike the traditional acrylic denture this type of denture is made with a plastic that consists of a flexible material. This option is popular because unlike the other two types no metal is used for retention in the mouth. Depending on where the clasping needs to be located sometimes the metal wires can be unsightly, with this flexible denture we can incorporate the clasping in with the acrylic and blend it in with your natural teeth. Making for a more aesthetically pleasing look.
